Homes in small South Dakota towns and out on rural land often sit wide open to the weather. Prairie wind, long cold winters and strong summer sun all find the weak spots in an aging window, and the result is drafty rooms, frost on the glass and heating bills that keep climbing.
American Remodeling works with homeowners across South Dakota, not just in the larger cities. Our own crews travel to measure, install and seal every window, so a home on a quiet street or a farmstead gets the same careful installation as one in town.

A family-owned company since 1997, focused on doing the job right the first time.
We have been replacing windows and improving homes for decades, and we treat every project like it is our own house.
Every window is measured and installed by our own crews, never subcontractors, so one team is accountable from start to finish.
Energy-efficient vinyl windows built for demanding Western climates, with insulated glass options for cold winters.
We look at your windows, measure the openings and give you clear pricing, with no obligation to buy.
WeatherMax replacement windows are built on multi-chamber vinyl frames that slow heat transfer and never need painting. Each window uses insulated glass, with multiple panes and a sealed space between them that holds heat in far better than the single-pane glass still found in many older homes.
On qualifying configurations, a Low-E coating helps reflect heat back into the room in winter and limit solar heat gain in summer, and select systems add argon gas between the panes for extra insulation. Qualifying ENERGY STAR configurations are available, and we will confirm which ones apply to the windows you choose.
The installation matters as much as the window. A unit that is not squared, insulated and sealed to its opening can still leak air, especially on an exposed lot where steady wind finds any gap around the frame.
Compare styles and glass options in the WeatherMax vinyl replacement windows lineup, or browse available color & hardware options.
Most openings can take more than one style. During your estimate we help match each window to the room, the view and how much weather that wall takes.
Two sashes that slide up and down for flexible ventilation and a classic look that suits many older farmhouses and in-town homes.
Sashes that glide side to side. A simple, wide option for bedrooms, basements and hard-to-reach spots.
Hinged windows that crank outward and press against weatherstripping when closed, a good fit for walls that face the wind.
Fixed glass that frames a wide-open view and lets in the most light, often paired with operable windows on each side.
Arches, circles and other custom shapes for unique openings or added architectural detail.
Every step is handled by our own crews. Timing depends on the size of your project, product availability and travel, so we set a schedule for your home during the estimate.
We look at your current windows, talk through styles, colors and glass, and measure each opening, with no pressure to buy.
Once you choose your windows, each one is ordered to the exact measurements of its opening.
On installation day we protect the work area and remove the old windows one opening at a time, so your home is only open briefly.
Each new window is squared, shimmed and fastened, the gap around the frame is insulated, and the exterior is sealed against wind and moisture.
We check that every window opens, closes and locks properly, show you how to care for them, and haul away the old windows and debris.
WeatherMax windows carry a Double Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty and a Lifetime Accidental Glass Breakage Warranty, and we back every installation with our one-year workmanship warranty. See window warranty details.
Wide-open country means three conditions drive most of the window replacements we see.
With few trees or buildings to break it, steady wind pushes cold air and dust through worn weatherstripping and gaps around old frames.
Heat lost through single-pane or failed double-pane glass adds up month after month, and fogged panes are a sign the seal has already failed.
Strong sun heats rooms through older clear glass, and summer storms test every seal. Low-E coatings are designed to reduce solar heat gain.
A project in a small town or on rural property takes a little more planning than one in town. Here is how we handle it.
Before anything is scheduled, we check that your town or property is inside our current service area, so you are never left waiting on a crew that cannot reach you.
Replacement windows are ordered to the exact size of each opening. We take those measurements carefully at the estimate so the right windows arrive for installation day.
Installation dates are planned around crew travel, product availability and the weather. We give you a schedule for your home during the estimate and keep you updated if conditions change it.
Older openings are often out of square or show past repairs. Our crews look at each opening as the old window comes out and talk with you about anything that needs attention before going further.
Our crews travel to small towns many installers do not reach, including homes as far out as Highmore.
Do not see your town? Request a free estimate or call us, and we will confirm whether your address is in our current service area.
Windows are our focus here, and many homeowners add other exterior work to the same project.
Sliding and swing patio doors that replace drafty older units and open up the view without letting winter in.
WeatherMax Xtreme Siding for homeowners who want to refresh a worn exterior along with their windows.
Soffit and fascia replacement that finishes the roofline and helps keep out wind-driven snow, moisture and pests.
Added to a qualifying siding or soffit and fascia project: gutters and downspouts that move snowmelt and storm runoff away from the home.
Vinyl window frames do not need painting and will not rot, which saves time on a property where there is always another chore waiting. When siding or trim is replaced too, our crew seals every window opening as part of the same job. Learn about WeatherMax siding.

“American Remodeling. Has been true to their word since the very beginning. We've had their windows and sliding glass patio door for four years now. They will still come out and repair and replace a broken wheel or a track. They answer their phone. Answer an email. Almost immediately every time. I will give them five plus stars every time!!”
“Had a great experience, windows look amazing!! Fast, friendly and very hot 😅 🤣. Poor guys installed our windows in 100° heat. They rocked! Coming from a very picky person, I was impressed. Thank you to both Nic & Nick and new boys! 👍🏻”
“These guys are GREAT! Nic is a riot & John is hands down best & fastest installer/construction guy I’ve ever seen in action! They had 10 windows out, & cleaned up (couldn’t even tell there’d been holes in my house) before noon. And...came in over $25k cheaper than Anderson. Highly recommend!”
