Single Slider Windows
The operable sash slides left or right instead of swinging outward — ideal for wider openings and rooms that want an expansive, low-profile view.

How single slider windows work
A single slider window has two side-by-side panels. One sash glides horizontally along a track and the other stays fixed, and you can choose a left- or right-opening configuration. The sash slides rather than tilting or swinging outward. There is nothing to lift and no sash swinging into the room or out over a patio, which makes sliders easy to open and a practical fit for openings that are wider than they are tall.
- One sash glides while the other panel stays fixed
- Opens without lifting or cranking
- Nothing swings into the room or onto a walkway
- Wide, horizontal viewing area
- A natural fit for openings wider than they are tall
Why Homeowners Choose Sliding Replacement Windows
Space-Saving Operation
The sash slides within the frame, so it never blocks a deck, walkway, or the furniture inside.
Wide Views and Daylight
A horizontal profile frames a broader view and spreads daylight across the room.
Adjustable Airflow
Slide the operable sash open as far as you like to let fresh air in through half of the window.
Clean, Modern Lines
Simple horizontal lines suit ranch homes and contemporary designs alike.
Track care, glass options, and trade-offs
A slider’s sash rides on a bottom track, so the most important upkeep is keeping that track clear. Vacuum out dirt and debris a few times a year and wipe it with a damp cloth so the sash keeps gliding smoothly. Keep in mind that only half of a single slider opens. If you want to open either side, consider a double slider; for a large fixed center with sliding ends, a 3-lite slider may be the better fit.
Specific frame and glass features vary by manufacturer and product line. WeatherMax windows include a Lifetime Accidental Glass Breakage Warranty, a Double Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty, and American Remodeling's 1-Year Workmanship Warranty. All coverage is subject to the applicable written warranty terms, exclusions, and transfer requirements. Read the complete window warranty terms.

7 Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Windows Before Winter
Seven signs it’s time to replace, from sashes that are hard to open or lock to drafts you can feel near the frame.
Single Slider Windows questions
One sash glides left or right along a track while the other panel stays fixed. You open it by sliding the sash horizontally rather than tilting or swinging it outward, and you can choose a left- or right-opening configuration.
In a single slider only one sash moves. In a double slider both sashes glide, so you can open either side of the window to direct airflow. Compare double slider windows.
A single slider has two panels: one fixed and one that slides. A 3-lite slider has three panels, with a large fixed center and an operable sliding panel on each end, and is designed for wider openings such as living rooms. Compare 3-lite slider windows.
Keep the bottom track clean. Vacuum out dirt, leaves, and insects, then wipe the track with a damp cloth. Check the care instructions for your window before applying any lubricant.
They are a good fit for wide openings, bedrooms, family rooms, and walls next to patios or walkways, where a sash swinging outward would get in the way.
