How They Work

Hinged Operation with a Classic French-Door Look

A swinging patio door opens on hinges, just like an interior door. When the door is open, the full panel moves out of the way, creating a wide, welcoming passage to the patio or deck.

Single-door and double French-style configurations are available where the opening and door system allow. Our recent work includes a single hinged door with matching fixed sidelites and a pair of French doors on a log cabin deck.

  • Opens on hinges for a full, wide passage
  • Single and double French-style configurations where applicable
  • Fixed sidelite pairings where supported
  • Qualifying configurations can include a dog door
Planning

Plan for Interior and Exterior Clearance

Because swinging doors move through an arc, you need clear floor space along the path the door travels. Depending on swing direction, that space is inside the room or out on the patio or deck.

Before you choose, think about furniture, rugs, railings, steps, and grills near the opening. We review swing direction and clearance during your in-home measurement so the door fits how you use the space.

Glass, Security & Finishes

Low-E Glass, Security Hardware, and Frame Colors

Low-E glass is standard on our patio doors. A Low-E coating helps manage radiant heat transfer through the glass for better year-round comfort near the door.

Security hardware varies by configuration and may include deadbolts and other supported hardware. Frame colors follow the same options available for WeatherMax windows, and the lever handle finishes are shown below. Not every color or hardware option is available on every configuration.

Care & Installation

Weatherstripping, Maintenance, and Installation

Check the weatherstripping around the door periodically and keep the threshold clean so the door closes and seals properly. If the door starts to drag or stick, contact us so it can be checked.

Our crews measure the opening, remove the existing door, set and level the new unit, adjust the hinges and hardware, seal the opening, and complete a final inspection with you.
